Materiality, process and translation drive my work. Through a continuous intuitive interaction with materials, I develop a series of space contained yet chaotic environments that resemble anthropomorphized natural phenomena. I construct them by multi-layered visceral marks being reinterpreted and transformed through analog and digital techniques. Throughout the process, I simultaneously explore the interaction of dynamic forms, space and color. I aim for the ongoing translation of visual information to develop in a similar manner to the transience of natural processes, therefore creating the illusion of the static imagery to appear to be constantly growing as well as expanding and contracting.

Guillermo D. Tapia
Guillermo D. Tapia is a self taught painter currently based in Fort Worth, TX. Primarily working in portraiture, his paintings utilize numerous content ranging from American iconography and populism to matters of personal memories, friendships and experiences. Tapia's work provokes ideas of popular American culture while super imposing his own vision that heightens friends, family and his own memories into similar realms of existence. His skillful paintings bring to light the questions; What is reality? What is memory? Tapia investigates these questions with fractured representations that apply focus on the more important aspects of the paintings; people.
Digital design and figurative art influence the new body of work. A more minimalist abstract approach seen in his new collection of paintings has created a turning point in his creative career. This series explores more complex and intimate life experiences presented in a subtle yet bold manner.
